How to Style High Rise Midi Denim Shorts

Happy Saturday ya’ll!! I just received these ” High Rise Mid Length Distressed Denim Shorts” ( try saying that 5 times fast!!!) in the mail and as soon as I tried them on I felt like a 10 year old boy. They just didn’t feel girly at all and I debated on just returning them before I even gave them a chance.
I started to think about how I could style them to seem more feminine instead of feeling like I’m about to hit puberty. HAHA! So, I have styled them 3 different ways for you in case you’re feeling the same way. I love them and think they look great when you add the right shoes, top and accessories.

The first thing I did when styling these shorts was to give myself a waist. Wearing a top that would go over these shorts and hang long does nothing for your figure. To fix that, I chose to add a sleeveless top with my outfits. It’s important to balance your top and bottom when wearing these shorts because again, you don’t want look frumpy . You could absolutely wear a top with sleeves, but I would recommend tucking it in to define your waist.

I chose a sleeveless top not to be revealing, but to show a little skin because these shorts are longer. I am all about modesty and truly dislike showing any part of my body that in reality, should be covered up unless I’m at home. But baring your arms in this situation shows your femininity a little more. So let me break down the outfits for you below! 🙂

The first look is the dressiest of the 3. I added my favorite wedges that are on sale right now for $49, regularly $80. They are true to size (my normal size is an 8 & that’s what I have) , VERY comfortable and come in several colors. I’ve owned them for 2 years and they still look brand new.
I added a light pink button up top from Target that is also true to size and only $17.99. I don’t mind paying a steeper price for some of the items in my closet because they are a staple, are great quality or just feel good, BUT, when it comes to my tops, I always stick to an affordable price tag.

To finish the outfit, I added the cutest little Amazon rattan cross body bag, a few gold bracelets, dainty necklace and earrings. All of my jewelry is under $20 and my bag is $35 + Prime Shipping.

To style these shorts in a casual way for the weekend, errands or vacation, I added my flat Seychelles sandals . They are on clearance right now for $39, regularly $50. I’ve had them on everyday since I bought they came home with me. They are so comfy, cute and you can basically wear them with anything! I normally wear an 8 but the 7.5 fit me just fine.

This tank top is a great basic that stays in stock basically year round. I have several colors and they have all held up great. They are true to size, I’m wearing an XS and right now it’s 25 % off with the code: FIREWORK.

My cross body bag is a great classic to keep forever. It’s a little bit of an investment but so worth it. I received it for my birthday this year because I needed something that would hold the necessities while living that mom life. If you are a mom, you need to be hands free most of the time, so I love that about this bag. You can even have your initials embossed on the front like I have.

Lastly, I tied a cute little scarf in my messy bun to add to that girly vibe I’m going for. If you aren’t into tying it in your hair, add it to your handbag for a pop of color.

The last way I styled these midi shorts is by adding leopard flats, a simple black v neck tank top and a black cross body bag. I have these flats in all three colors, Nude, Black & Leopard, and I can’t even tell you how great they are. I have wide feet which makes it hard to wear almost all flats, but not these. I purchased my regular size 8 and they are perfect. I’ll be wearing them all during the Fall because it’s so hot in Texas.

Because these shoes are a signature item from their retailer, they hardly ever go on sale, but thankfully they are right now. YAY!!! The leopard pair are $53.50 and the Nude and Black are on sale for $44.50.

My black tank top is so affordable that you could buy 5 of them for $25 because they are ONLY $5!!!! The white one is a little see through so keep that in mind, however the black one is not.

My Kate Spade bag is also another investment piece but again, I received it as a gift. It’s the Margaux medium convertible crossbody bag in black. I kept the accessories the same for all 3 looks and am really loving these bracelets I just purchased. Both sets are stretchy and $12.99 each.
